About

15 Rounds of Timothy is a transcription of the journals of Ray Burtless (1891-1964). Ray is my great grandfather and I have set out to transcribe these pages for family and all that care to read.

This will be a discovery process as I come to know more of the family’s history and to unravel the mysteries of Ray’s fine handwriting and abbreviation with those who remember.

Note that I have not changed Ray’s spellings, but have dropped in periods where he left spaces to help break the text.

This is some of what I know from Sharon Seymour’s (Ray’s granddaughter) fine history of the family.

March 25, 1891 Ray Burtless is born in Seneca County, NY, the youngest of 10 children.

September 2, 1914 Ray married Ethel May Weaver in Ensenore Heights, NY. They boarded a train in Auburn on that fine day to honeymoon in Canandaigua, NY.

November 30, 1915 Daughter, Sylvia Marguerite (my grandmother) is born.

November 2, 1917 Son, Raymond Richard is born.

March 23, 1923 Son, Charles Burney is born.

November 2, 1927 Daughter, Gertrude Adell is born.

March 1925- January 1943 Ray kept a daily journal.

    Kirsten,

What a wonderful thing you are doing !! I was so surprised when Robin brought me a copy of what you have done. I never read the journals in detail and read some things that I was not aware of.

Would love to be in touch with you. write me an email. Also you need to know that Grampa Burtless was named Ray not Raymond. Grama Burtless told me that herself.

    Love Aunt Sharon
